Application for Membership from Overseas
1. An overseas researcher wishing to apply for membership should download the application form from the Society web site and mail or fax the completed form to the Society office. An application submitted via e-mail will not be accepted
2. For privacy protection purposes, you are requested to indicate in the square box if you agree to the particular information appearing in the membership directory, which is usually published once every two years and is sent to all CLSJ members.
3. Once an overseas membership application is submitted, notification of acceptance will be sent by e-mail, and we will send you the membership fee payment form afterward. Please do not send us the membership fee before you receive the payment form
4. Please send the 6000-yen annual fee in one of the two options stated on the application form.
- Payment by credit card: Once you receive the form for credit card payment, mail or fax the completed form to the Society office. In order to protect your private information, please do not send the form by e-mail.
- Payment through a post office in Japan: Please tick option #4 to receive a postal money transfer form.
3. A membership renewal form will be mailed to the overseas member in June every year. To renew your membership, please fill in the form and mail or fax it back to the Society office. If you choose to pay by credit card, the fee will be drawn after the renewal form has been received and confirmed.
4. When a member does not indicate a desire to renew membership for two consecutive years, and the Society office does not receive a renewal form by the end of August of the third year, then that member’s name will be removed from the directory.
Further information
1. Please note that membership application submitted between January and March and subsequently accepted would be for the next fiscal year starting in April. However, a special rule can be applied to those who wish to join the Society in the given year, on condition that they complete the payment by March 10.
2. We are unable to accept multiple years’ payment if you pay by credit card. Those who wish to pay by credit card are kindly requested to make payment every year.
